Mr Vanhegan has fifteen years of medico-legal experience and has prepared over 6,000 medical reports. He has given evidence and been cross-examined in Court in over 100 cases. Up to the year 2000 he was on notice for one or two court cases per week but after the Woolf reforms, has been on notice for Court about six times a year, but only required to attend Court on three occasions in the last year.
Audit Jan 2004-Jan 2005. During this period Mr. Vanhegan has prepared 290 medical reports and seen 97 new private patients. The breakdown of instructions was as follows:

As a consequence of '360 degree' appraisal, 39 testimonals have been obtained, with proportional contribution from each group.
Mr Vanhegan has been appointed by the Inland Revenue to be on a panel of experts specialising in upper limb disorder (RSI).
Since May 2004 he has been on the Board of Medical Referees for the Firemen's Pension Scheme Order 1992, under the auspices of BUPA Wellness Pensions Unit, 300 Gray's Inn Road, London WC1X 8DU.
He also does about 20 claims a year for Permanent Health Insurance.
