Mr Vanhegan has twenty years of medico-legal experience and has prepared over 10,000 medical reports. He sees approximately 250 new cases each year, and has given evidence and been cross-examined in Court in over 100 cases. Up to the year 2000 he was on notice for one or two court cases per week but after the introduction of the Woolf Fast Track System now attends Court approximately once every three months.

Audit for 2008: During this period Mr. Vanhegan received a total of 250 instructions, 68% for Plaintiffs, 23% for Defendants, 7% Joint Instructions, and the balance of reports for Disability Discrimination, Permanent Health Insurance, etc..

As a consequence of '360 degree' appraisal, 39 testimonals have been obtained, with proportional contribution from each group.

In 1999 Mr Vanhegan was appointed by the Inland Revenue (now HMRC) to be on a panel of experts specialising in upper limb disorder (RSI).

Since May 2004 he has been on the Board of Medical Referees for the Firemen's Pension Scheme Order 1992, under the auspices of BUPA Wellness Pensions Unit, 300 Gray's Inn Road, London WC1X 8DU.

He also does about 40 claims a year for Permanent Health Insurance.
